She’s spoken before the United Nations and countless politicians and diplomats. She’s a champion of the arts and art education. She’s publicly backing Chicago’s bid for the 2016 Olympics. And she’s got killer biceps and a wardrobe unrivaled by a First Lady since Jackie O. Despite her impressive resume and busy schedule, Michelle Obama hasn’t forgotten about the littlest — and furriest — Americans. The First Lady is making an appearance on the debut episode of the 40th season of Sesame Street.

She’ll be talking to Sesame Street friends and monsters about gardening and the benefits of eating your greens. I’m still a little bitter about the whole Cookie Monster debacle, but I’ll probably tune in. Obama’s garden is the first at the White House since the World War II victory garden — now that’s pretty cool. The woman is making strides in terms of getting America healthy again, and what better way to make vegetables appealing to youngsters than to dress them up as Muppets.
