An Apple A Day for Life

My fall wish FINALLY came true today: we went apple picking! We piled into the Roommate’s mini van and headed east to Goold Orchards to pick apples and to pick over the farm store.

It was crisp and cold outside — perfect apple weather! We pulled Red and Gold Delicious and Cortland apples from the trees while Jack investigated the apple-covered ground.

Look at our cute family photo! (This took us one or two tries ;) )

I picked almost half a bushel! And then made the Boyfriend carry it into the farm store.  Where we bought apple cider donuts.

And wine!

Apple wine and apple-pear wine — intriguing, right? The wine is bottled locally by Brookview Station Winery.  And we broke into this jar in the car on the way home.

Success! Obviously there will be many an apple in my diet in the near future.  Hopefully that old “apple a day” adage will ward off any future sickness!

In honor of our efforts, and because there is no room in our fridge for all these apples, I declare this week A Week of Apple Recipes! I will test and post a new one each day.  Keep checking back! And go pick some apples yourself.  It’s the perfect fall activity.
