Christmas cheer is evading me this week. I find myself in serious need of a little holiday spirit. Or perhaps just some holiday spirits…?
I don’t want to start of Lunch Break on a somber note, but there is some noteworthy local news about my beloved home state. The NY Senate voted against passing the Marriage Equality Act which would have allowed gay couples to marry. All Over Albany provided some great coverage of the event. Be sure to watch the two speeches.

The Gradu-weight… Imagine if your BMI had to be a certain number in order to get a Bachelors. A Pennsylvania university is making students lower their weight or take an extra class on being physically fit if their BMI is over 30. The article is thought-provoking. I suppose the intention is good, but I can’t help feeling like this is not entirely legal.
Another excuse for kids not to eat their vegetables… Foods most likely to make you sick, care of mental_floss. On this list? Some of my all-time favs, including spinach, ice cream, tomatoes, and cheese. You think I’m going to give up cheese because of a little Salmonella? No way. I’ve been eating cheese for 2+ decades now without problem. Now, please pass the brie.
This kind of food will never hurt you… A brief history of pie.
